Cherries Appreciation Post

 Happy Birthday to Mies van der Rohe who is one of my favourite architects!

 Cherries of the south are riper
Than the cherries pluckt  a-north
Gather to your fairy sitar
When it pipes its magic tune:
Merry, merry,
Take a cherry;
Mine are darker,
Mine are stronger,
Mine are sweeter
For the eye.

In the cherry grown in southern light,
With the dew of monsun swelling,
There’s a feel of pure delight,
Cool, dark, sweet, divinely smelling.
Merry, merry,
Take a cherry;
Mine are darker,
Mine are stronger,
Mine are sweeter
For the eye.

When I sound the beating drum,
Gather here in joyous dancing,
Chin to knee on the orchard wall,
Flying hair and eyes romancing.
Merry, merry,
Take a cherry;
Mine are darker,
Mine are stronger,
Mine are sweeter
For the eye.
